Garena introduced the Garena Professional League (GPL) in the month of May 2012, which is a six-month professional gaming league which includes more than 100 matches online. The GPL's inaugural season will be the first online League of Legends tournament with six teams of professional players. They represent the best players from their nations. GPL matches and commentaries are streamed live online. Viewers can watch these via the GPL website. In January of 2013, Garena announced the Garena Premier League's second season was scheduled to begin on January 4th, 2013. Garena Premier League 2013, that began on January 4 2013 will feature two new teams. One each from Taiwan as well as Vietnam. This brings the teams' total to eight. These teams include: AHQ (Asia), Saigon Fantastic Five (Saigon Jokers), Bangkok Titans (Bangkok) and Kuala Lumpur Hunters(Kuala Lumpur) as well as Manila Eagles(Manila) Taiwan Assassins, and Singapore Sentinels. In November 2014, the Garena e-Sports Stadium, a space specifically for esports was opened in Neihu District, Taipei. The studio was constructed to house events like the League of Legends Masters Series, the world's top LoL Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau league. It was a spin-off from GPL. In the month of January, Garena launched Iron Solari League, a women's League of Legends tournament in the Philippines. The tournament is scheduled for the second week of every month. The purpose of the event is to boost participation among the minorities, and is accessible to all who identify as a female. Garena doesn't just host tournaments but also events that are offline and social events that enable users to engage.
